It's been a while ...

It's been a while since I've posted anything here – in fact, it's been so long, it took a bit of detective work to rediscover my account login details. Anyway, here I am. I have been very busy working for a local publishing company in Dorchester for the last three years, but recently went freelance again. My first piece of freelance work was to finally illustrate my father's story A Magic Smell for a Marrow.
A Magic Smell for a Marrow, by Jack Elwin, ISBN 978-1-912609-00-0 Price: £7.99. Available Spring 2018

It was a story that he'd told my children, and my nephews and nieces; and they (and we, their parents) always found it very funny. He also entertained the local primary school children with it, over a number of years, so it's been thoroughly tested out.

He and I discussed me illustrating it for him, back in early 2012, shortly before he died, aged 81, but it's taken me this long to find the confidence in my illustrating style to feel I could do it justice. I wish he was here to see it!

Here's the original sketch that I did for him, back in 2012 (if you look at the photo of Jack here, I think the magician looks quite like him!):
... and here are a few of the final book illustrations. The book will be available later in Spring 2018, along with several other children's books, published by Fuzzypig Books.
